OC templates to copy and paste
A template is a list of questions about your character. Fill in what you know, skip what you don't, and come back when you figure out more. Tap Copy on any template below and paste it into your notes, a Google Doc, Discord or your Toyhouse page.
Name: Nickname: Age: Birthday: Species: Gender / pronouns: Height: Occupation: Personality (3 words): Likes: Dislikes: Fears: Goal: Biggest flaw: Hobbies: Catchphrase or thing they always say: Backstory (2 or 3 sentences):
[Name], [age], [species]. [One line about what they do]. Loves [thing], can't stand [thing]. Secretly [small secret].

Best friend: Rival: Family: Crush or partner (if any): Who they'd never get along with, and why:
Using a template in Google Docs
- Paste without formatting. Tap Copy, open a new doc (typing
docs.newin the address bar makes one), and paste with Ctrl+Shift+V (Cmd+Shift+V on a Mac). You get clean lines with no odd fonts. - One OC per heading. Turn each OC's name into a Heading, and the outline on the left becomes a list of your characters you can jump between.
- Add the picture. Insert → Image → Upload puts your OC or its ref sheet right above the template.
- Share it read-only. Share → General access → Anyone with the link, set to Viewer, is handy for artists and roleplay partners. They can read it but can't change it.
How to fill it in without getting stuck
- Start with the personality, not the backstory. Three words like "grumpy, loyal, sleepy" tell you more about how your OC acts than a long origin story.
- Give them one real flaw. Characters who are good at everything are hard to like. A flaw gives you things to write about.
- Keep the palette small. Three to five colors is enough. It makes your OC easy to recognize and easy for artists to draw.
- Leave blanks. A template is a starting point. Plenty of great OCs only have a name, a look and a vibe for months.
Make the rest
- No picture yet? Make one in the OC maker, then turn it into a ref sheet.
